For many animals, this is a natural response: involuntary strong trembling immediately after a threatening situation causes the hormonal system and nervous system to gradually cease their overreactions. We humans have lost this natural, balancing response. However, we can relearn it and use it for our health. Initiating a process of muscle vibration through exercises can be traced back to certain yoga styles, Chi Kung, as well as to Haruchica Noguchi, Alexander Lowen, Mantak Chia, David Berceli, and other practitioners in the field of body-oriented psychotherapy. Fundamentally, any exercise that stresses the leg muscles sufficiently to trigger trembling through muscle fatigue is suitable.
