The main aim of the course is to teach practice-relevant diagnostic and treatment approaches and new perspectives in the clinical application of osteopathy.
On the one hand, advanced approaches and techniques are offered for osteopathy, which expand the clinical framework and the “toolbox” of practicing osteopaths. On the other hand, new perspectives, principles and models make it possible to identify and link further clinically relevant factors with regard to health and allostasis that were previously not taken into account. This is why we do not speak of a primary somatic dysfunction, but of soma-physiology-experience-context dysfunction patterns, which are taken into account in the diagnosis. We also consider which resources maintain the existing balance and which changes in the patient are possible with which osteopathic approaches at any given time.
The entire Psychosomatic Osteopathy (PSO) course series with Torsten Liem is designed to improve and expand the diagnostic and therapeutic approaches to challenges and complaints that arise in practice. This includes cognitive, limbic, neurovegetative, immunological, biochemical, homeostatic and allostatic processes, the consideration of sensorimotor, vital, emotional, mental and spiritual components of consciousness, new and expanded palpatory approaches, the inclusion of the biographical life path and the lines of development for clinically relevant osteopathic approaches, the consideration of multimodal and multidimensional resources that can be activated during treatment, the ability to co-regulate patients in order to accompany them into a dynamic state of balance and flow.
The aim is to comprehensively consider various aspects of health and well-being in order to pursue a holistic approach to osteopathy.
Specific applications are presented, for example, for pain syndromes, post-traumatic stress syndrome, chronic stress, emotional dysregulation, craniocerebral trauma, brain fog and pediatrics.

Our training courses inspire and transform. Read what others have to say about their experiences with Torsten Liem and psychosomatic osteopathy.
Torsten Liem puts together in a clear and meaningful way many of the observations and conditions that many osteopathic physicians have seen and treated but not fully described, and expands them to include entirely new perspectives and clinical approaches, e.g. in the consideration of soma-physiology-experience-context-dysfunction patterns and new diagnostic and treatment approaches.
Some of the basic concepts that A.T. Still, MD. DO described and taught as to applied physiology and functional anatomy along with the mind body relationships are explained and are supplemented, for example, with holarchic bottom-up and top-down dynamics, person-context interactions, adaptivity, proactivity, and concepts of energy, energy provision and energy distribution.
The course with Torsten was transformative. It was a dream came thruth and now all that acknowlegment are present in my life and certainly improving the lives of many patients.
The way the Professor captivates people is magical, he is an exemple of Osteopath, a complete professional, and it was such an honor to learn from a world reference like him.
Torsten’s workshop about clinical approaches in Psychosomatic Ostheopathy was mind opening and definitely inspiring. His presentation was extremely useful for me and my work in the future. It opened up new perspectives and gave me the insight about ostheopathy in ways I didn’t consider before.
Torsten’s approach to the treatment of nose, ear, throat, eye and other complaints such as headaches is uniquely multi-layered. He integrates not only vessels, cranial nerves, hormones, the neurovegetative, brain chemistry, but also life contexts of the patient, as well as morphodynamic and evolutionary viewpoints. He explained the complex anatomy and the relationships between the individual anatomical structures in an easily accessible way. (…) He also recommended many scientific articles for us to read. Torsten Liem is an outstanding osteopath and teacher. Can’t wait to participate in further courses with Torsten.
Torsten Liem’s scope of knowledge is extraordinary. He has the rare gift of being able to explain complex systems and their interrelationships within an individual patient. No matter your nutritional knowledge, this man has something to teach you.
Excellent pediatric seminar by Torsten Liem in Madrid, one of the highlights of the year. The rich and thorough explanations about how anatomy, physiology, metabolism and psychology are interwoven were outstanding, as for the relationship between mother and child, all supported by the most cutting-edge science based studies. The hands on work is extremely precise and effective, while the evaluation protocol is a must-have reference of all interested in the pediatric approach in osteopathy.
I want to deeply thank Professor Torsten Liem for dedicating himself to the art and mission of teaching. He has an immense heart capable of serving and helping! The spirit of seeking within him encouraged me to want to understand more, to learn more, to be able to make the right connections on the path to understanding the, for now, mysteries of the human body. I left the course feeling a deep gratitude for everything he taught and for his willingness to come here to Brazil. It certainly turned a key in all of us! Without a doubt, he is not only an osteopath but also a mentor who nurtures the soul of his students to the best of his ability; time, presence, knowledge, availability, readiness… and most importantly love. I hope this was the first step on a greater path for all of us.
