Aims of training at the Liem Institute

The modular training in psychosomatic osteopathy combines the latest scientific findings with over 30 years of practical experience in teaching and practice.
Learn how to provide people with comprehensive support – physically, emotionally and mentally – using the methods and knowledge of the Liem Institute.

The training is aimed at osteopaths who wish to expand their treatment skills in a targeted manner – in particular by adding depth psychological, systemic and psychosomatic aspects.
It is aimed at both experienced therapists and those who are looking for new perspectives on complex symptoms.

The focus is on combining body therapy work with emotional, mental and social processes – a central component of teaching at the Liem Institute.
Classical osteopathic principles are combined with modern findings from neuroscience, psychology and embodiment.

The aim is that you:

  • recognize the holistic dimension of complaints and be able to classify them in a clinically comprehensible way,
  • have effective tools to treat the body and psyche in an integrative and individualized way,
  • can accompany people with acute or chronic complaints and emotional trauma in a targeted, safe and effective way,
  • and expand your own therapeutic profile with new perspectives and practical techniques.

The PSO training at the Liem Institute has a modular structure and can be completed flexibly and on a part-time basis.
Each module has a self-contained thematic focus and can be taken independently of each other – depending on personal prior knowledge, interest or specialization requirements.

The result is further training that is not only geared towards your professional goals, but also promotes your personal development as a therapist.

Whether you are a beginner or an experienced practitioner, the Psychosomatic Osteopathy training series offers you practical knowledge and specialized techniques to expand your skills in psychosomatic osteopathy. The training consists of six modules that build on each other and enable you to complete the qualification in one and a half years:

Conclusion and prospects

With this training in psychosomatic osteopathy, you will acquire in-depth knowledge and practical skills to diagnose and treat psychosomatic relationships in a targeted manner. After completing the training series, you will receive a certificate confirming your specialization in psychosomatic osteopathy. This certificate documents your comprehensive qualification and enables you to use your expertise both nationally and internationally.

  • Therapeutic relationship: You will learn to establish a stable, transparent and healing-supportive therapeutic relationship with the patient as the basis for all further measures.
  • Stabilization phase: This includes a variety of skills, e.g. for verbal support of palpatory approaches, and in particular osteopathic manual procedures for stabilization and co-regulation
  • Integration/confrontation phase: Resources are activated, etiological and risk factors are eliminated, unresolved dynamics are resolved and dysfunctional mechanisms of action are inhibited. SPEK dysfunctional patterns are worked through.
  • Integration in everyday life: The osteopathic consultation is like a therapeutic uterus. You learn how therapeutic impulses work into everyday life.
