This article differentiates and discusses the definitions and terminologies of osteopathic lesion concepts that trace back to Still and early osteopaths. The term “osteopathic lesion” developed on the basis of Still’s understanding of lesion as an obstruction of vital fluids or their neuronal control centers. The original lesion concept was primarily applied to disturbances of spinal structures.
